BLC Council Minutes Dec. 21, 2004

Present: Larry Myers, Shelly Eno, Al Curtis, Lowell Thronson, Ken Hummel, Dennis Baumann

Larry called meeting to order at 11:30 AM

Action Items: Treasurer's report was reviewed and accepted. Motion by Lowell, second by Shelly. Shelly then added that a retirement fund for Marcia will be set up.

Continuing Business: Stewardship drive will begin on Jan. 11^th. Packets will be handed out to Route leaders after church. Various church members will be reporting on different topics for the next few Sundays on ways to enhance your stewardship.

Budget committee report by Larry. Utility allowance is up as are the salaries of Pastor and Marcia. A change was made to show continuing education for Pastor to be 700.00. Items like Choir and Music Director items were lowered because the positions are vacant. Ministry Coordinator line will be added to budget if this position is accepted by congregation.

Ministry Coordinator Position: Salary will be set based on experience and persons experience will also affect amount of training dollars needed for this position. We need to be prepared for questions on "why" we need this position at the forums. Ken will lead this discussion. It was also discussed that the salary range that will be used will be ($10.00-12.00). Discussion followed on when this position should be reviewed after person is hired. Pastor will call Cross Plains church to seek more information on a similar position.

Ken made the motion: To accept the job description as written with a salary range of $10-12 based on training and experience and that we need to include who the person is to report to in the description.
Second by Al.
Motion passed.

Motion by Lowell: To accept the budget as amended to include Minister Coordinator position at $12,500, staff training to be $2,000.00, Pastor's Continuing Ed. to be changed to 700.00, and the FICA line to change according to percentage of new salary.
Second by Ken.

Other Discussions: A short discussion was held about clarifying the Foundations rules or the church’s rules for memorials that are made to the church.

Information Items: Congregational Annual meeting will be January 25^th, 2004 @ 10:15
Next Council meeting is Jan. 20^th @ 6:30pm. at BLC.
