The Barneveld community has established a Care Team Ministry program of volunteers who offer support to residents living in and around Barneveld and Ridgeway. The Care Team is an ecumenical effort of all three Barneveld churches: BLC, United Church of Christ, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. On average, between 16 and 20 individuals are being served at any given time.
Care Team Ministry is a faith-centered, church sponsored program that helps individuals and families cope with various non-medical needs in order for them to improve their quality of life and to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible.
This ministry works when an individual or family gives us the invitation and the privilege to lend our support and helping hand.
Care Team offers:
- Social and emotional support through friendly visits and/or telephone check-ins
- Practical and/or physical support such as shopping, transportation and simple repairs
- Spiritual support through prayers and a listening ear
There is no charge to an individual or family for the support and assistance provided by Care Team Ministry. All care team contacts are treated confidentially.
Care Team Members are men, women, youth, couples and families who commit 2 to 4 hours per month to either call, visit, write or provide other services within their comfort level, based on their availability and interest. These individuals are trained with ongoing educational and skill development to assist them in providing non-medical support. Team Members meet monthly for about one hour to review their caring ministries and to provide each other with peer support.

The Care Team urges anyone interested in becoming a care member to contact any of the above listed people for further information.
Please help us connect with neighbors in our community that might be dealing with upcoming or recent surgery, long-term disability, long-term illness, long-term care giving, being home-bound or having an unexpected crisis. Care members are not limited to helping the elderly and disabled but hope to reach out to all persons and families in need.
